i was the greenest emt & he played macabre jokes that stood my hair on end: first cpr experience- person died- he sent me back into the er, right as the breath expelled. i though death had been greatly exaggerated & freaked.
lest anyone should bear ill feelings toward mr. polaha, i have to say that i couldn't manage to convey in 40 words that he played those jokes to toughen me up, which i needed desperately, and it worked. he was really very kind, (albeit with a twisted sense of humor) he used to invite me to his home for dinner, even thanksgiving, & his wife taught me to roast a turkey! :^)
I'm a cook. And I write, sometimes about food, mostly poems. I make stuff. I get lost. I'm worried about vanishing bees, melting icecaps, the decrease of civility in the world, seedless watermelons, and whether there will be enough time for me to get it all right.
